It was a slow day. I Skyped Deb for over an hour this morning and then worked on school for next week. It does not take a lot of planning because we are role playing situations that they may encounter and giving them corrections and the English rule to go with it. Most corrections are due to tenses, singular and plural and use the use of pronouns. There are not past, present and future in Thai so it is very difficult to comprehend. I remember very conjugation in French was very time consuming and I understood verb conjugation but to Thais, it is very foreign to them. I can tell that they are nervous and I can only think what ust be like for a dog.
I took the Skytrain to the shopping center and I did not buy anything. I went mainly to look around and get out of the hotel. I am getting ready to leave for the fish market to have shrimp and snapper. It is cooked at the market which I showed on the blog a couple nights ago.
BELOW: Fish market and the entrance to the hotel. The Parinda car is to drive people from the hotel to the train.
There are daily showers that pass by but the are short lived. It only makes it hotter because it raises the already extremely high humidity to 100% for 95%. It is a very, very warm rain. Homes do not have hot water heaters as there is no need with the constant tropical heat.
Traffic and travel through Bangkok is done however you can make it happen. Four people on a scooter or 25 people in the back of a pickup.
Below: I had tipped the maid yesterday and mentioned that I like coffee. You are supposed to get one of each in your room. When I came back from being out on the town, the tray was heaping with more than I will ever use but it shows that tipping is helpful to get what you need.
Thailand Fact: Approximately 10% of the world’s bird species live in Thailand, a greater proportion than in all of Europe or North America.i
