Thailand, Friday June 10, 2016. Euro Cup begins tonight.
I found out today that many cars do not have horns in Thailand and those that do will not use them in any negative way. It is very taboo to use your horn. I thought it funny that BKK is so quiet without any horns being used. Maybe that is why there is no road rage visible in Thailand. especially BKK.
Travel throughout the heart of Bangkok is made quite simple by using the Skytrain to get to your
destination. It can be very busy.
If your final point is far from the BTS Skytrain, you can always take a Tuk Tuk, Taxi or motorbike. The latter is not suggested. I rode three miles on the back of the motorbike after the soccer game on Sunday. I was holding a bag of shirts and wearing my BMW baseball hat. The first 100 yards, my hat was lost to traffic. We proceeded to hit top speeds of 80 km per hour and I did not have a helmet. In and out of traffic, it was horrible. I can only compare it to a roller coaster fear, which I am immensely of riding. I was thinking, "I can die riding with guy". I was a huge relief to get off at the train station

It amazes me that the prices of clothing at the malls is more expensive than the USA. The poverty level in Bangkok is 30-40 percent, nearly 8 million people. Twenty-five years ago the poverty level for the country was 67 percent!!!!!!! Now the country can boast a 14 percent level of poverty. The economy has been growing at a 8 percent rate in the 80's, 90's and 2000's The USA growth rate over the last ten years is as follows. Great Job Oboma! Thailand really hates Obama and it the first thing I tell Thais when I meet them; "I am from the USA, but I hate our President Obama". I will leave politics out of this blog but with 350 millions Americans, look at who we pick for our leaders, $$$$$.

I can only think of Ponsak Poopatanapong when I see a Singha Beer. Sales must be way down!
Below: Here are a few pictures of the room I just arrived at for two weeks. It is very nice, very clean and the maids are wonderful. I had 20 jerseys and shirts that were in dire need of folding. I did not want to tip the maids for nothing, so I called two of them into my room and explained that I need all my shirts folded. I said; "100 Baht Paa Pub". That is 100 baht to fold my shirts. Chi, chi. Yes, yes. When I came back to the hotel the shirts were tidy and now take up 1/5 of the space they did before.
Below: Hotel fitness center and pool. The pool is narrow but very long. Great for swimming laps. I used the fitness center weights and plan to continue everyday while I am here. FYI, this hotel is 47 dollars per night and their is a free shuttle to the train, 1 mile away. The school is less than a mile so I walk to and from. I walk on the shady side of the street coming home. Well, back to the hotel.
